Qld: Kerry Packer gets honorary doctorate from Bond University

BRISBANE, Dec 14 AAP - Media magnate and Australia's richest man Kerry Packer has been
awarded an honorary doctorate by Bond University.

Vice-chancellor Ken Moores said the university valued free enterprise, and through
his control and direction of Consolidated Press Holdings (CPH), Mr Packer had demonstrated
entrepreneurial flair and business acumen.

These skills had made CPH and its subsidiaries a major force in the corporate sector
and a "growth engine" in the national private sector economy, Professor Moores said.

"Mr Packer has demonstrated a strong and unwavering commitment to the retention of
a strong private sector and to free enterprise," he said.

Mr Packer received the honorary doctorate as a Doctor of the University at a private
ceremony on the Gold Coast last night.
